In this patch, Dual Blade received a reorganization, and it is finally able to be created again! There is also a new boss, the Black Magician’s commander, Hilla!

Starting on March 5, in Aswan, the World Match will be closed. You can now fight the remnants of Hilla’s army up to 5 times a day. They drop Conquerer and Emperor’s Coins, and you can gain Honor as well.

Excitingly, Hilla has finally been released as a boss! She can be fought with an expedition of 2~6 people over level 120 twice a day, in either Normal (level 120+) or Hard mode (level 170+). She drops many desirable items! In Normal Mode, you can only get the first two on the list I’m about to post.

She has some special abilities, like summoning an Altar that attracts you to it until you defeat it, a cage that can only be broken by normal attacks from your party (only in Hard Mode, if you don’t do it in time the person dies and Hilla restores HP)!

I think Hilla is the first boss ever to drop a Cash item (the pet, Dark Soul, and its equipment)!

• Stone of Eternal Life (3 to all stats, 3 attack and magic attack Pocket item, untradeable)

• Necro weapons (level 120 weapons)
• Necro weapon scrolls

• Hell’s Fire (7 to all stats, 100 HP, MP, defense and magic defense, 2 attack and magic attack earrings, 5 slots, level 130, and untradeable)

• Dark Soul (pet, lasts 90 days, is a multipet, comes with Meso Loot, untradeable, cannot be moved into the Cash wardrobe)
• Dark Soul’s Earrings (pet equipment, 7 slots, cannot be moved into the Cash wardrobe)
• Dark Soul’s Power Stones (20% chance to give 2 attack to  the Dark Soul’s Earrings, with a 50% chance of breaking if failed)

Me and my guildmates decided to fight her (Normal mode of course, Hard is too hard!) and we defeated her pretty easily. I learned that the restriction of two per day is only for leading, so you can go in many more times than that!

Monster Park has been reorganized~ Monsters’ HP has been decreased and the amount of monsters per map has been increased! The drop rate for Monster Park ticket pieces has been doubled! Also, you might see this special monster randomly spawn while inside. If you defeat it, it can drop equipment that comes epic on reveal!

In addition, in Monster Park runs where you have defeated the special monster, when you enter the final portal after clearing, you’ll be taken to the Treasure Storage. Here, you can fight Bonus Spiegelmann for Greed Boxes that give special items when opened.

This is the new character creation screen, focusing on Dual Blade!

Dual Blade creation has been changed! You can now choose your gender regardless of KSSN, and there are two default hairs and one default faces for each gender! (Did you notice my pro editing skills?)

The tutorial has been renewed! I recorded it for you guys, sorry for any little lag spikes I had, haha. P.S. You can see the changed Kerning City and thief hideout at the end of the video!

Dual Blade’s advancement system has also been changed: Level 10 – 1, Level 20 – 1.5, Level 30 – 2, Level 55 – 2.5, Level 70, 3, Level 120 – 4! At fourth job, Dual Blades can receive a special mount called the Dark Owl.

With all this new stuff, obviously there has to be some events! The first is called the Dual Blade Reorganization Celebration event! It’s shorter in Korean… It starts today, on the 23rd, and ends once Dual Bladers cannot be created anymore. This confirms that they are not a permanent addition, yet again.

First off, all Dual Blades receive a freeSP Resetupon logging in (obviously).

All newly created Dual Blades receive a special gift, which contains three items. The first is a 30 day Pendant of the Spirit, the Newly Born Dual Blade medal, and the Owl Effect Cash item!

All Dual Bladers in the correct level ranges will receive free special mastery books! They have a 100% chance of passing!

• Level 30+: Slash Storm 20
• Level 55+: Flying Assaulter 20
• Level 70+: Mirror Imaging 20
• Level 80+: Shadow Evasion 20
• Level 120+: Blade Fury 30 & Thorns Effect 30

All newly created Dual Blades that reach level 75 receive a free level 75 dagger and blade! They come unidentified, and also have special effects! When you are level 100 or more, the dagger gives an extra 8 attack, and the blade gives a 5% chance to hit 7% extra damage on a boss monster and 7 extra attack.

All newly  created Dual Blades that reach level 50 receive the Dual Blade Ring! It gives 4 to all stats, 80 HP and MP, 3 attack and magic attack, 10 defense and magic defense, and 5% critical chance! It is tradeable through the account with the Share Name Tag!

This ring cannot stack with the other Adventurer Rings!

Next up is the Dual Blade Level Up event, which gives all Dual Blades items when you reach certain levels. You will see that almost all the checkpoints give this Go! Dual Blade! buff, and it’s a bit special so I’ll explain it.

This item is a buff that is used when double clicked, it gives HP and MP for 30 minutes. However, it does not go away once used, and has a 30 minute cooldown before it can be used again. It only runs out on the day it expires (May 1st)! Also, as you get more, the effect of this buff increases!

• 2 (Lv. 30): Green Mask (1 to all stats, 30 HP and MP, 1 attack, 10 defense and magic defense, 5 accuracy and avoid)
• 2.5 (Lv. 55):Blue Mask (2 to all stats, 55 HP and MP, 1 attack, 20 defense and magic defense, 10 accuracy and avoid)
• 3 (Lv. 70):Purple Mask (3 to all stats, 70 HP and MP, 2 attack, 40 defense and magic defense, 15 accuracy and avoid)

All Dual Blades also receive special medals based on their job advancement!

Finally, a couple of Hot Times! The first is on February 25 and gives the Shiny Golden Headband!

If you didn’t notice, this is Dual Blade’s signature hat! It gives 10 to all stats, 100 HP and MP, 100 defense and magic defense, 25 accuracy and avoid, and 10 Craft. It has 10 slots, is untradable, and can be traded through the account once with the Share Name Tag.

Also, if you are a Slasher or Dual Blader, you receive a boost of 5% critical chance, 5 to all stats, 5 attack, and 10 speed! I guess they increased the stats from Tespia to match the other hats!

On February 26, you can get an AP Reset and SP Reset!

Oh and also, the Star Star Festival (season 7) has begun! You stay logged in game and collect Star Stamps, that you can trade in on the website for both in-game items (cubes, smegas, Maple Points, Nexon Cash) as well as real life items! I see a Macbook Air and iPad 2! You can see the prizes here.

There are two new Cash items called Inner Ability Protects. One is for B rank and one is for A rank. I don’t know if I told you already, but Inner Abliities have ranks. And when you use a Circulator, there is a chance of getting a higher rank. However, unlike potential, once you use a Circulator the rank is reset. These items allow you to lock the rank of an Inner Ability for 1 Circulator.

Today, Nexon released their fourth quarter and full year 2011 financial results. While looking through their website, you can see this! It shows MapleStory 2 as an upcoming product! I think this is the first time we’ve seen this screenshot, so its exciting to think that this game might be released!

Read past the cut for my thoughts, as well as some brief information I  thought was interesting~!

This is the same screenshot as above, enlarged. I can spot the chat window, HP and MP bars, as well as some characters fighting some monsters?

I think this pretty much confirms that it is not 2D, but I think that 2D is one the big factors that adds to MapleStory’s charm. Is that just me?

Just MapleStory itself’s lifetime gross sales are over $1800 million, that’s a lot of money!

Dungeon Fighter Online has over $1500, followed by Kart Rider at over $400, with Mabinogi, Counter Strike Online, Sudden Attack, and Atlantica Online not too far behind.

Nexon’s total revenue in 2011 was over $1 billion USD! And as you can see, China makes up the largest part of Nexon’s revenue!

Seems like the Dual Blader will be making his comeback this month! I wonder what will be changed about him, other than skills of course! I’m calling the 23rd as the patch date.

I know there wasn’t really a patch (explaining the same patch version as my last post) but it just feels so weird not having it there! Anyways, the Maple Valentine’s Day events have begun! Did you notice Cannon Shooter in the above picture? I guess he’s tired of being heartbroken!

This event is really plain, and pretty small, hopefully something exciting comes out soon…

EDIT: News about both Phantom and the Aswan Liberation War has been revealed!  Please check the end of the post~

Monsters will now be dropping Sweet Chocolates, and you can collect 100 to trade in to Cassandra for one Justice Coin.

Cassandra will give you a Valentine Chocolate to hold for 30 minutes, after which it becomes the Valentine Love Chocolate! You get a Justice Coin and the Valentine Love Chocolate as your rewards.

You can use the Valentine Love Chocolate to receive a buff based on your level!

Levels 30 and lower receive 20 attack and magic attack, and 40 speed. Levels 31~70 get 30 attack and magic attack, and 40 speed. Levels 71 and over get 40 attack and magic attack, and 40 speed!

Finally, monsters around your level will drop the Valentine Lovely Box, which gives a lot of different prizes!

By the way, for clarification about the Strange Box, the items it sells are random! This means that no, you won’t see a White Angelic Bless every time you find the box. Plus the stock is limited and you can only buy one of each item.

Similarly to the Legend update, Phantom cannot be created after March 5.

Also, the Aswan Liberation War will be closed on that day, the World Matches and all 4 modes will be combined into one. You can continue to participate and receive Honor and Coins, but you will not be facing any other worlds. Perhaps Aswan will come back later with a special surprise? Maybe a boss?

This patch was basically everything in the last post (Cross Hunter and Mu Lung Dojo reorganization, theme dungeon Golden Temple, Temple of Time reorganization) and a couple of events, pretty boring…

I did find out some new information about some of the things added though, including a very rare recipe that might become very easy to obtain…

The Golden Temple is now a theme dungeon, a permanent addition! It is located near Mu Lung and Herb Town. You can go there by talking to Hak or by using the Mirror of Dimension (which really defeats the point don’t you think?).

With new maps, quests, and monsters (including a new miniboss), the Golden Temple has been renewed! Ravana is still the final boss though.

For completing the quest line, you’ll receive the Seeker of the Golden Temple medal (5 to all stats, 350 HP and MP, 1 attack and magic attack, 100 defense, magic defense, accuracy, and avoid) and a Mystery Mastery Book.

You can return at any time to fight Ravana again. The first time, you might have noticed he didn’t drop anything, but after that he will!

He can drop the new Ravana’s Golden Crown (12 to all stats, 80 HP and MP, 80 defense and magic defense, 12 accuracy and avoid, 8 slots, tradable with the Scissors of Karma) or Ravana’s Helmet (18 to all stats, 60 HP and MP, 100 defense and magic defense, 10 accuracy and avoid, 5 speed, 2 jump, 7 slots, tradeable with the Platinum Scissors of Karma), as well as Mystery Mastery Books.

You just need to collect 10 Blazing Sun Bursts to combine into a Sun Burst, and be over level 130. You can fight him 5 times a day, in channels 6 to 8.

Cross Hunter has been reorganized! All quests begin at level 75 now, and many of the lower level bosses have been deleted. Bosses have been organized into different Chapters. There’s also some new prizes, which are really cool, because there are titles that give stats!

Cross Hunter has been given its own UI! The tabs at the top allow you to switch between Chapters, and you can see each boss you must hunt in each chapter. a CLEAR sign will appear on bosses you have already defeated, and a big CLEAR sign will cover the page once you have beaten them all. You can press the buttons below each boss to be guided to their Mystic Gate. Once finished the chapter, you can press the bottom button to receive your prizes!

In Chapter 1, you must hunt Timer, Zeno, Deo, Master Dummy, and Deet and Roi. These are available to you at level 75 or higher.

For completing this chapter, you’ll receive the Apprentice Hunter Proof title (which gives 1 to all stats, 100 HP and MP when in effect) and 10 Cross Coins. Until the end of February, you’ll also receive 10 Justice Coins.

Then you must hunt Centipede, Master Hob, Master Harp, Master Birk, and Kentaurus King! This can be done at level 95 or higher, if you have completed Chapter 1.

You’ll receive the B Rank Hunter Proof title (which gives 2 all stats, 200 HP and MP) and a Cross Hunter Weapon Scroll (which when used gives you a 100% scroll for a weapon of your choice that gives the stats of a 60% scroll), as well as 15 Cross Coins and Justice Coins.

In Chapter 3, you must fight Chimera, Manon, Papulatus, Griffey, and Richie! Don’t worry, they all have their own Mystic Gates. However, they do not drop quest items or anything… so no getting your Manon’s Cries from the instanced version… These bosses are available at level 115 or higher, if you have completed Chapter 2.

You receive the A Rank Hunter Proof title (which gives 3 to all stats, 300 HP and MP) and a Cross Hunter Mastery Book (which gives you a random 20 or 30 book for your job).  You also get 20 Cross Coins and Justice Coins.

In Chapter 4, you must fight Pianus, Leviathan, Dodo, Lilynouch, and Lyka! Available to you if you are 135 or higher, and have completed Chapter 3.

You receive the S Rank Hunter Proof title (1 attack and magic attack, 3 to all stats, 300 HP and MP), an 80% 2 Star Equipment Enhancement Scroll, and 30 Cross Coins and Justice Coins.

The fifth tab holds the Cross Hunter Shop, meaning you don’t have to go back to Edelstein every time! The prices have also been reduced, and the equipment are tradeable through storage once.

Mu Lung Dojo has been reorganized! There are now three modes, Normal (level 90+, with 10 stages), Hard (level 120+ with 20 stages, and Ranking (level 130+ with 40 stages). You can do Normal and Hard Mode 3 times a day, and Ranking Mode 3 times a day.

Hard Mode now has a rank system! It calculates your rank from SS to B depending on your Time Points and Bonus Points! Bonus Points can be received by looting the Bonus item that drops from bosses.

Based on your rank, you’ll receive prizes! SS Rank gets you So Gong’s Panda Paint (an eye accessory that gives 6 to all stats, 200 HP, 1 attack and magic attack, 100 defense and magic defense), S Rank gets you Unul’s Panda Paint (an eye accessory that gives 5 to all stats, 150 HP, and 75 defense and magic defense). They last 7 days.

A Rank gets you 3 Mu Gong’s Elixirs, which give 30 attack and magic attack and 10 speed for 1 hour, B Rank gets you 10 Power Elixirs.

Ranking Mode‘s prizes are the same, but the gloves’ special effects no longer apply within the Dojo. You can still receive the Belts, and bosses will now drop Dojo Belt scrolls! By completing Normal Mode, you can receive the So Gong’s Successor medal~

In both Orbis Tower and Eos Tower, new ropes and ladders have been added to make moving and training easier. You can now also pay money to the Magic Rocks to move floors! This is an amazing change, although a bit late…

In the Ossyria continent, all shops now stock level 50 to level 70 equipment!

The Temple of Time has been reorganized! The maps are much smaller and easier to traverse, and the shelter maps in between have been removed. In addition, you must now only kill 333 monsters for each quest! And perhaps the best part, the NPC Johanna will teleport you to each of the three sections of the Door to the Past! No more walking!

Johanna also runs her own shop, so you can repot or NPC items right at the Temple of Time!

Speaking of shops, while traversing the Door to the Past, you may come across the Special Box NPC, who sells scrolls, recipes, and materials for cheap (10k mesos each)!

This NPC is what I was talking about at the beginning of my post, because on the MapleStory website, confirmed, is that the Special Box can sell the White Angelic Bless recipe!! One of the rarest recipes in the game sold for 10k… I guess people will be camping for this shop!

It also sells Pieces of Time, Mystery Mastery Books, Timeless and Reverse recipes, and Advanced Potential Scrolls, but who cares about those in comparison?

The Justice Thank You event has begun! It will run until the end of February. When reaching 2nd, 3rd, and 4th job, you’ll receive a one-handed or two-handed scroll for attack or magic attack, as well as a Mystery Mastery Book for your job at 4th job!

The quests where you must clear 3 Monster Park runs, 3 Party Quests, and reach Wave 15 in Nett’s Pyramid now give 2 Justice Coins each! Nett’s Pyramid items now come Epic on reveal!

For the Level Up Event, based on your current level, you must get a certain number of level ups to receive a Justice Coin and a 1.5x Experience Coupon!

The Justice Shop has been updated! All weapons now come Epic on reveal, and you can buy 7 Pet Equipment for Attack or Magic Attack scrolls now. Two new items have been added, the 30 day Pendant of the Spirit for 30 Coins, and the 8 Slot Party Quest Item Bag for 55 coins! I already have this bag, but I guess it’s good for new people~

Now there are a bunch of Hot Times planned, but they’re getting lamer and lamer… On February 4, you get a 2 Star Enhancement Scroll and 2 1.5x Experience Coupons. On February 5, you get 2 1.5x Drop Coupons and 2 1.5x Experience Coupons.

On February 11, you get a Valentine’s Android Box (which gives a Valentine Heart and Android) and 2 1.5x Experience Coupons. On February 12, you get 2 1.5x Drop Coupons and 2 1.5x Experience Coupons.

On February 18, you get one SP Reset and 2 1.5x Experience Coupons. On February 19, you get 2 1.5x Drop Coupons and 2 1.5x Experience Coupons.

Finally, in order to celebrate the various reorganizations, some new events will take place. Ravana’s Golden Crown will have a higher chance to be higher than Rare rank, and Blazing Sunbursts will have a 2x chance to drop. For completing the Golden Temple, you’ll receive a 1.5x experience coupon, and you’ll be able to enter Ravana’s Altar one extra time per day.

For Cross Hunter, you’ll receive Justice Coins for completing Chapters. Also, the Veteran Cross Belt and Veteran Cross Pendant will come Epic on reveal!

In Mu Lung Dojo, the belts you can get will come Epic on reveal, and you’ll receive Justice Coins for clearing different modes (3 for Normal, 4 for Hard, and 5 for Ranking)~

After a small dry spell in both Tespia and the real server, a new patch has been released! This one changes up two existing contents, Cross Hunter and the Mu Lung Dojo! This includes new quests, new prizes, and much more~!

The Golden Temple has also returned! This time, it’s permanent, in the form of a theme dungeon! Plus there are some very, very, very useful changes that I’m sure you’ll be happy to hear! Read on~

First up, let’s talk about Mu Lung Dojo. Normal Mode is now for levels 90 and over, Hard Mode for levels 120 and over, and Ranking Mode for levels 130 and over. There are also some new prizes!

As you might already know, the top 50 scorers in Ranking Mode get those really good gloves (speaking of which, the bonuses from the gloves do not apply inside Mu Lung Dojo anymore), but now Hard Mode has its own prizes! In addition, bosses inside Mu Lung Dojo now drop belt scrolls~

As you participate in Hard Mode, you’ll earn points, and at the end of each week you’ll receive a rank for those points! Your rank will determine the prize you get. Each prize lasts for 1 week, and the Facepaints are actually eye accessories…

• SS Rank: So Gong’s Panda Facepaint (6 all stats, 200 HP, 1 attack and magic attack, 100 defense and magic defense)
• S Rank: Unul’s Panda Facepaint (5 all stats, 150 HP, 75 defense and magic defense)

A new theme dungeon has been added, Golden Temple! With a reorganized terrain, new quests and monsters, it’s a great place for level 115 and up. You can access it in two ways, through the Mirror of Dimension or by using the Hak taxi in Mu Lung (although I’m not sure why you would go to Mu Lung if you could just use the Mirror…)!

If you finish all the quests, you receive the Seeker of the Golden Temple medal, which gives 5 to all stats, 350 HP and MP, 100 defense, magic defense, accuracy and avoid, and 1 attack and magic attack~

You still fight Ravana at the end, and there is a new helmet available. Ravana’s Golden Crown gives 12 to all stats, 80 HP and MP, 80 defense and magic defense, 12 accuracy and avoid, with 8 slots. It is level 70 and is only tradeable with the Scissors of Karma. I’m not too sure how to get it actually… I finished the quest line quickly on Tespia and I did not receive it, but I think you have to collect Sun Bursts and return to the altar of Ravana.

Cross Hunter has been reorganized! All the quests below level 75 have been deleted or moved up in level. There is a new UI for Cross Hunter now, and it divides the bosses up into Chapters. Each Chapter has 5 bosses and different prizes for completing them, with a total of 4 Chapters. The last tab is the actual Cross Hunter shop, so you don’t have to go back to Edelstein every time you want to buy something!

Before, the last miniboss you would face was Kentaurus King. Now there are 10 new bosses you must defeat to be the ultimate Cross Hunter! I’ll list each of the chapters, their bosses, and their prizes. One thing to note is that each chapter gives you a title. Now, I usually skip over these because they’re really useless, but these new titles are great, they actually give stats! Also, you might see some very hard to find bosses… but don’t worry! They all receive their own Mystic Gate~

Now for the useful stuff I was talking about! First off, all weapon and armor sellers on Victoria Island now stock up to level 40 items! In the Ossyria continent, all stores now stock up to level 70 items!

In Orbis Tower, you can now pay a small fee to the Magic Rock to be able to teleport to different floors! You can access this on Floors 20, 10, and 1. In Eos Tower, the same applies, on Floors 100. 91, 70, 67, 35, 31, 10, and 1! Of course you can still use your scrolls if you want.

Finally, all the 100% scroll sellers have been moved to the town they’re closest to~

The Temple of Time has a new NPC named Johanna, who sells potions! No more running back to Leafre to NPC or repot!

There is also a special NPC who can sell you rare recipes, scrolls, and materials. It can randomly appear in any map in the Door to the Past. I’ve seen it sell int and luk Potion recipes, the Mighty Ring III recipe, a Reverse Rontano recipe, and a 60% Pet Equipment for Str Scroll, all for 10,000 mesos each, cheap!

Also, something that may make many happy, the kill 999 quests have been reduced to 333! Well I could only see the first one, but I’m assuming all of them have been reduced as well. The area has also been changed, the maps are much smaller and easier to traverse.

There were a couple of minor changes to Aswan, including monster HP and experience. I think they might have nerfed the experience of Hell Mode monsters… no more grinding there for me…

As some of you may know, I did black out my blog a few hours ago. It was supposed to start at 8am est but I could not get online until about 4pm est. So it was really only down for about 4 hours, plus this is a small blog so it may not have had much of an effect, but it’s important to raise awareness about the SOPA because if passed, it could hurt a lot of websites on the internet, even blogs like mine!

This patch did not bring much more than a new event, but it’s pretty cool! The Lunar New Year is an important event for Koreans. Therefore, there are some  items that you can get that are really good! This event runs from January 19 to February 1. There’s also some other things I want to talk about such as the Aswan world map and Aswan as a training place, so stay tuned.

The first part is called Fun Maple Yut Nori. It’s a popular game during the New Year in Korea, you can learn a bit about it here (once Wikipedia’s black out ends, haha). Monsters around your level will be dropping these sticks, and when you pick one up, you get 1 to 5 points. You can even lose a point! But for every 200 points you get, you can talk to Cassandra in town to get a Justice Coin~

There’s a new raid, where you must defeat the Black Dragon! Every hour at XX:05 and XX:35, you’ll receive an invitation to the fight. For beating him, you’ll receive 2 Justice Coins! But you can only fight him 6 times per day… at least it’s a really easy way to farm coins~

You can collect 20 of three ingredients to make Rice Cake Soup! Every time you complete this quest, you’ll receive a Lunar New Year Rice Cake Soup which gives you a buff based on your level (1~30: 20 attack and magic attack, 500 HP and MP, 31~70: 20 attack and magic attack, 1000 HP and MP, 71+: 20 attack and magic attack, 1500 HP and MP) and 1 Justice Coin. It sorta sucks because the Soups don’t stack… and they expire in a day or two… But it takes literally 2 minutes to complete this quest so it’s good to farm Coins. However, you have to wait 10 minutes between each quest and you can only get a maximum of 5 Coins per day…

This one is really awesome! When you log on each day, you can tell your wish to the Little Draco! You can then choose one of the 7 prizes (50% Golden Hammer, Special Potential Scroll, 60% Miraculous Chaos Scroll, 15% Accessory for Attack or Magic Attack, and 15% Armor for Attack or Magic Attack). Hold the Normal Orb  for 1 hour to become a Powerful Wish’s Orb and give it back to receive the prize you chose! You can only get each prize twice over the course of the event, and since it lasts 14 days, you can get 2 of all of these items.

Monsters around your level will drop Lunar New Year’s Gift Boxes, which you can open for many prizes! This includes the 4 Moon Bunny Cushions were from a long time ago! I’m very excited because as most of you know, I like to collect chairs! For so long, I’ve had only 3 out of the 4 cushions, and I’ve been really annoyed that they didn’t make them available again… finally I can get the last cushion!

There are also a series of Hot Time events for this event, with really good prizes! The first, on January 21, gives a 50% Positive Chaos Scroll, which can only raise the stats of an item if it works. The second one on January 22 gives a Lunar New Year’s Miraculous Blessing potion, which gives lots of experience! I don’t know if it gives a set percentage or a different amount for each level range…

The third Hot Time is on January 28, and it gives a Black Dragon’s Shoulder (which gives 2 to all stats, 2 attack and magic attack, 30 defense and magic defense with 3 slots, unfortunately it cannot be traded nor can it have potential) and a 3x Experience Coupon! Yes, you’re reading that right, not 2x, 3x! On January 29, it gives a 100% Epic Potential Scroll and another 3x Experience Coupon!

This event also gives an Event Stamp, if you manage to get 5000 points from the Yut Nori event by the end of the event~

That’s not all! Every day from January 19 to February 1, there is 2x experience from 1pm to 4pm~ I hope I can get to level 190 soon!

The Aswan world map has been added! As you can see, it is located in the Nihal Desert! The specific map itself shows the different modes and difficulties, and a tower in the middle labelled Hilla’s Tower. This tower is never reached, so there’s no point in putting it there…. unless… foreshadowing of a future Aswan update? With Hilla as a boss? Maybe…

Finally, remember how I said that Aswan was a complete disappointment? It’s actually not. It’s a really good training place! The most popular way is to choose Attack Mode on Hell difficulty and stay on the left while attacking the oncoming mobs! As you can see, during 2x experience, I was receiving over 200k experience per monster! For a version without party play zone Lion Heart Castle, it’s really good. Currently I’m level 187, almost 188! I’m excited for 19X~

The third part of the Justice update, the Liberation of Aswan has been released! It includes a new ‘party quest’ that even pits world against world! This ‘sort-of-party-quest’ comes with two new ‘stats’, that can help make you even stronger! There are also two new systems which can give you a nice stat bonus and free items!

I actually had low expectations for this patch because I was really looking forward to Aswan being an exploreable town (which it isn’t) and having a boss (which it doesn’t). Maybe one day they’ll expand…

Tigun will tell anyone level 40 and above about the mysterious town of Aswan, a town taken over by one of the Black Magician’s commanders, Hilla. You can go to help the cursed city through the Mirror of Dimension.

You’ll be taken to the Aswan Obelisk, with some Cygnus Knights outside. Inside the obelisk, you’ll find the Aswan Refuge, where the cursed spirits of Aswan rest. You can see in this picture the king, Iason, the minister Chungrong, and Medisa. Through quests, you’ll learn of the battlefield and Hilla’s army, and how you can help them!

Here is the entrance to the battlefield, where you can fight to liberate Aswan! By pressing up on this portal…

You’ll see this window. It shows the World Match, where different worlds fight to control the most territory! You can see the current statistics. You can join in on this fight by playing the Aswan Liberation War between 2pm and 8pm. After pressing the big button…

This window will pop up! You can choose the mode you want to play, the difficulty, and whether or not you want to play in a party! There are many different combinations. The Normal mode is unlocked when you have level 5 Honor, and the Hard and Hell modes are unlocked at level 30 Honor. I’ll talk about Honor soon!

The first two modes are called Occupy and Attack. They are basically the same, I think the only difference is when the World Match is going on, and you must occupy new territory or attack other worlds’ territories. To win, you must defeat the Guardian Tower! It will not be easy though, Hilla will send her army of undead soldiers to attack! Thankfully, the Cygnus Knights have given you aid in the form of the Cygnus Hastati and Cygnus Centurion!

The third mode is called Defend. In this mode, you must protect the Cygnus Guard Stone, while at the same time, you must defeat a specific number of Destroyers, which are large weapons that hit great damage on the Guard Stone if allowed to shoot!

The fourth option is the Hunting area. It’s not really a mode, just an area with spawning monsters. It’s used for a quest, but you can enter at any time.

When clearing modes, you’ll receive Conquerer’s Coins if you clear any difficulty, and Emperor’s Coins if you clear Hard or Hell difficulties. You can get your coins by talking to Woodwan at any time, but you can only gain a total of 150 coins per day. You can trade these in for some special items, which I will talk about in a bit~

Now in this patch, you’ll see two new things in your Ability window, Honor and Honor experience! It’s a new stat that you can level up by joining the Liberation War. Every time you clear a mode, you’ll get Honor experience to level it up! However, you only get Honor experience between 2pm and 8pm (seriously Nexon…?). Honor itself does not give any stat boosts, but it does unlock something!

There’s another new thing in your ability window called Inner Ability. It is similar to… potential I guess! As you can see, there are 3 ‘slots’. Once your Honor reaches level 2, you’ll unlock the first one! Level 30 unlocks the second, and level 70 unlocks the last. These Inner Ability slots give you stats! There are many, and one is randomly selected when you unlock it. You’ll also notice that there’s a rank beside the Inner Ability, C. There are 4 possible ranks for Inner Ability, C, B, A, and S! These are very similar to the potential tiers of Rare, Epic, Unique, and Legendary.

What if you don’t like your stats? Use a Circulator to reset them! A Circulator resets your Inner Ability and also has a chance to raise the rank! Higher grade Circulators have a higher chance you raise your rank! 10 is the lowest and it goes all the way to 1.

Thankfully, the Circulators are not Cash items! You can buy them from Jangpiel for Emperor’s Coins! He also sells recipes for new level 130 items, called the Emperor’s set. However, the recipes are sold randomly, so you must check back to see if the item you want is sold.

You can also buy new Aswan scrolls from another salesman for Conquerer’s Coins. These scrolls are special in that they give higher stats but use up more than one upgrade slot. For example, the one in the picture is a 60% Aswan One-handed Weapon Attack Scroll, which gives 4 attack but uses up 2 slots.

Now the winning world in the World Match gets many benefits! First of all, they get an extra coin for every clear! Then, if they came in 1st they get an extra coin per 10 coins earned (2nd and 3rd places get an extra coin per 30 coins earned). The winning world also gets a 30% experience boost from Liberation War between 8pm and 10pm, as well as a 20% increase in Honor experience from 2pm to 8pm! The winning world also receives 5 new items at Jangpiel’s shop, while the 2nd and 3rd places get 3 new items.

The new Character Card system has been added! You can access it through the Character Card button on the character selection screen.

For every level 30+ character, one card will be created with special stats based on its race, job, and Rank! You can then put in the Cards into your deck (maximum of 6 cards) and every character in that world will gain those stats! There are even special Deck bonuses for having certain cards in your deck!

The rank of your card depends on the level of the character, and Cards with a higher rank give higher stats. Note, a level 120 Cygnus will only be Rank A.

Here is a list of the stats given from each job. These are taken from the max level (B being level 1, A being level 2, S being level 3, and SS being level 4, the max). Cygnus Knights can only reach A Rank, so all of the skills that have to do with them have a maximum of level 2.

Note, I’m not too sure about the stats that say “for every level”. I may have translated it wrong or something, but it’s iffy to me. Please don’t put all your faith in them for now!

• Paladin – for every level, increase stat by 2
• Dark Knight – 5% maximum HP

• Archmage (Fire, Poison) – 5% maximum MP

• Aran – 70% chance of healing 8% HP when attacking (can only be activated once per 60 seconds)
• Evan – 70% chance of healing 8% MP when attacking (can only be activated once per 60 seconds)
• Mercedes – 5% reduction in skill cooldowns
• Phantom – 4% meso drop rate increase

• Soul Master – 3% weapon defense
• Flame Wizard – for every level, increase stat by 1
• Wind Breaker – 8% accuracy
• Night Walker – 3% avoid
• Striker – for every level, increase damage by 3

Here is a list of the stats given from each special set, along with their requirements. Again, these are taken from the maximum level (with Cygnus having a maximum level of 2). You can have more than one Deck bonus if you satisfy the requirements of more than one!

• Strong Rush (3 Warriors) – 10% HP is added to damage
• Magic Storm (3 Magicians) – 10% MP is added to damage
• Precise Aiming (3 Archers) – 4% increase in damage of Final Attack
• Weakness Targeting (3 Thieves) – 4% maximum critical damage

• Free Spirit (3 Adventurers) – 10 all stats
• Concern for Cygnus (3 Cygnus) – 5 all stats

• Hero’s First Step (3 B Rank or more Cards) – 300 HP and MP
• Hero’s Growth (3 A Rank or more Cards) – 500 HP and MP, 1 attack and magic attack
• Hero’s Activity (3 S Rank or more Cards) – 700 HP and MP, 3 attack and magic attack, 3% damage increase on boss monsters

The Part-time Job system has been added! In the character selection screen, you can click the Part-time Job button to begin. There are a total of 5 part-time jobs for up to 3 characters to participate with at one time. You can open up the first window and choose a character to participate with and which part-time job to do. You’ll then see a blue clock over the character’s head in the character selection screen.

After a certain period of time, you can receive rewards by talking to Ms. Account in any town! You can participate in a part-time job for up to 6 hours. The longer you work the better your rewards will be. While a character is doing a part-time job, you cannot play that character.

In relaxation, the character receives plenty of rest. Your special rewards are various buffs such as increased experience gain.

In herbalism, you can collect various herbs. Your special rewards are rare recipes. If your character has mastered the profession Herbalism, you can receive better rewards.

In mining, you can collect various ores. Your special rewards are rare equipment and accessory recipes. If your character has mastered the profession Mining, you can receive better rewards.

In accessory shop, you can collect useful use items. Your special rewards are various scrolls.

In, weapon/armour shop, you can collect useful drop increase buffs. Your rewards are random equipment items.

Finally, there are two new Hot Times coming up! As always, in both you have a chance to win Cash items, and in these two, you can also get any level 140 weapon or a Righteous Hero Badge.

The first, on January 14, gives a Benefit Duke’s Ring, a Mysterious Love Letter, an Ultimate Circulator, a Conquerer’s Coin, and personality trait potions. The ring gives 1 to all stats, 50 HP, MP, accuracy, and avoid, and 1 attack and magic attack. It cannot be traded at all. The Ultimate Circulator instantly raises your Inner Ability to Rank S! That’s a great item, totally gonna log on just for that haha.

The second one on January 15 gives a Benefit Duke’s Shoulder,  a Mysterious Love Letter, another Ultimate Circulator, an Emperor”s Coin, and personality trait potions. The shoulder gives 3 to all stats, 50 defense, magic defense, accuracy, and avoid, and 1 attack and magic attack. It cannot be traded at all. The two Benefit Duke’s items also come with a set bonus of 1 attack and magic attack and 50 accuracy and avoid if you wear them together.

Not to mention 2x experience on January 14 and 15 from 1pm to 4pm~

A new promotion has been released on the MapleStory homepage! This one is all about the Aswan Liberation War! It includes a new type of party quest that even goes across worlds! You can see information about it in my previous posts!

Anyways, in this patch, two new systems were revealed, the Part-time Job system and the Character Card system! Both of them can benefit you for little to no work, so I suggest you read on for more information!

The two new buttons added in the last patch on the spiffy new character selection screen (Part-time Job and Character Card) have been activated! The two new systems are now available~ The Part-time Job gives you items while the Character Cards give you stats! There were also a couple of changes to Aswan, and some new items I wanted to share!

The Character Card system has been added! In the character selection screen, you can press the Character Card button to participate.

For each level 30+ character, one Character Card will be created. By race, job, and rank, unique properties will be given to each Character Card. Then, when the Character Card is put into the Card Deck, all characters in that world will receive the effects on the Cards. A special Deck effect is given when three Cards are used together. There are 3 Card slots per Deck, and there are a total of 2 Decks. Each Card’s rank is based on the level of the character. Level 30~69: Rank B, Level 70~119: Rank A. Level 120~199: Rank S, Level 200: Rank SS.

Here is a list of the stats given from each job. These are taken from the max level (B being level 1, A being level 2, S being level 3, and SS being level 4, the max). Cygnus Knights can only reach A Rank, so all of the skills that have to do with them have a maximum of level 2.

Note, I’m not too sure about the stats that say “for every level”. I may have translated it wrong or something, but it’s iffy to me. Please don’t put all your faith in them for now!

• Demon Slayer – % resistance to all statuses
• Battlemage – 5% reduction in damage taken from enemies
• Wild Hunter – 2% chance of instant death when attacking an enemy
• Mechanic – 20% increase in buff durations

• Aran – 70% chance of healing 8% HP when attacking (can only be activated once per 60 seconds)
• Evan – 70% chance of healing 8% MP when attacking (can only be activated once per 60 seconds)
• Mercedes – 5% reduction in skill cooldowns
• Phantom – 4% meso drop rate increase

• Soul Master – 3% weapon defense
• Flame Wizard – for every level, increase stat by 1
• Wind Breaker – 8% accuracy
• Night Walker – 3% avoid
• Striker – for every level, increase damage by 3

The Honor level up animation has been added! Before it was just a copy of the regular level up animation.

Jangpiel has new items that he sells, including Circulators, which reset your Inner Ability, Emperor’s Coins, and Conquerer’s Coins. I don’t know where to trade them in but I think these coins are used to get the new equipment added in the last patch.

Woodwan gives you Liberation War Coins when you complete a mode.  He also gives you bonus Coins depending on the results of the World Match. Aswan Liberation War can now be entered through the portal inside the Refuge. Hard and Hell modes have been added. In Hard Mode, there is a new monster called the Infernal Altar, who has very powerful attacks.

The Aswan Liberation War is almost ready to be released! The promotion video was released today, as well as this background. It features the Black Magician’s commander Hilla and her army!

There’s also the logo of this part of the Justice update. I think it’s really cool, I failed at trying to add it on to the background so here it is by itself haha.

The Justice’s Pendulum and the Crystal Libra items have been added. These are similar to the Peanut Machine and the Magic Music Box, where you use a Cash item to open up an etc. item for prizes! I wonder what they give…

New chairs have been added! The first is the Oh My Empress chair, then the Grandma’s Storybook Chair, and finally… wait… is that Akyrum? It’s the Akyrum’s Storybook Chair!
