kMS ver. 1.2.173 – Evolving System, Warrior and Magician Hyper Skills!

September 19, 2012 Leave a comment Go to comments

In this patch, Hyper Skills for warriors, magicians, and Mikhails have been released! There’s also the new Evolving System and Jewel Craft system, along with new events of course!

Edit: Haha, I guess Paladin’s buffs were too much, they scaled back Blast from 510% to 290% damage.

First off, let’s talk about the new Evolving System. This is a new type of  content that lets you create your own maps! You must be over level 100 to enter, you can only enter 5 times per day, and you can enter with either yourself or 2-6 party members (it’s a party play zone!).

In addition, this Evolving System does indeed connect to the storyline of Edelstein and the Black Wings. Gelimer betrayed Orca after finding a way to release Suu from his test tube, and commanded him to defeat her.

Afterwards, Orca is left in an alleyway in Edelstein. With no other choice, she stays with the Resistance!

Here’s the Evolving System Research Lab. It seems the ESS’s interface is based off the appearance of the commander Suu. If you ask why, it will respond that its memory has been deleted.

The Evolving System uses Cores to generate a virtual world that changes according to the user’s preference. There are 6 Round Core slots, 3 Square Core slots, and 1 Special Core slot. On the right you’ll see an overview of how your Evolving Dungeon will be.

Note: you cannot put more than one of the same Core (e.g. you cannot stack all drop rate increase cores). When you use a Core, it will be removed from your Core inventory. You can hold a maximum of 96 different Cores in your Core Inventory.

There are up to 9 Links (maps) in your Evolving Dungeon, but you have access to only 5 at first. To get the others, you must use Cores that unlock new Missions.

When you enter by yourself, you will instantly enter your Evolving Dungeon. However, if you are with a party, they will receive a popup that shows them the stats of your Dungeon and allows them to cancel within 10 seconds if they do not want to enter.

Without changing the appearance of the monsters or background, this is how the Evolving Dungeon will look. You have to talk to the Monster Creator to start the spawn of monsters, you can talk to it again to stop.

As you can see, the background has been changed to look like Pantheon, and the monsters are now Ariant themed. Manon is a special case, summoned with the Replicated Master Monster Core. You can also get Griffey, Pianus, the Cygnus instructors, and Cygnus herself.

They will drop some but not all of the same items the real versions do.

You can purchase different Cores to change your Evolving System with Evolving Coins by doing quests and hunting monsters inside the Evolving Dungeon.

These coins can also be traded for new equipment such as  the ESS Square, a pocket item with random stats, scrolls for level 100~120 equipment, and level 100 secondary weapons (see below for more info).

Here’s a list of core items that you can buy with coins (so you can get an idea of what you can customize). You can also buy some Cores with mesos, the prices of which do not exceed 1,000,000 mesos in most cases.

  • Monster Level Change (maximum level is 160)
  • Monster HP Change
  • Monster Spawn Change
  • Monster Skin Change
  • Background Image Change
  • Background Music Change

  • Special Job Lev. 110 Armor Drop

  • Drop Rate Increase
  • Herb Drop Rate Increase
  • Ore Drop Rate Increase

  • Mission Addition

A new item for the Empress set has been added, the Empress Shoulderpad (1 for each class). How do you get one? Use the Mission – Shadow Monster Fight Core and defeat Empress Cygnus, who will have a chance to drop them~

Their stats are 11 to all stats, 100 HP and MP, 7 attack and magic attack with 1 slot, and the Empress equipment now have one more set bonus, for wearing all 7 pieces of the set, that gives an extra 15% HP and MP and 10 attack.

I recorded a video of the Evolving System storyline including the part about the Black Wings~

Next up is the new Jewel Craft system! Using it, you can combine jewels and frames to create your own rings! There are 4 types of jewels (1 for each stat) and then within then 4 ranks, S, A, B, and C. The higher the rank, the better stats your rings will have.

At the moment the only way to get jewels and frames are through the Chuseok event’s Yutnori quests. I guess each new event will have a new way of giving them~

In each town you’ll find the Magic Mortar and Moon Bunny NPCs, which will let you start the Jewel Crafting process.

You will see the Jewel Craft UI, which asks you to input a frame and a jewel. You’ll then receive a ring! They are untradeable, unique items, and can have potential. Note: you can only wear one Jewel Craft ring.

However, there’s also a chance your combination will fail. In that case, you’ll receive Jewel Dust. You can trade in 10 Jewel Dusts for a box that gives you a random Jewel.

All old classes that did not have a secondary weapon have received them! This includes adventurers, Cygnus, and Resistance. They do take up the shield slot, and for classes that use shields, Shields are now treated as secondary weapons~

Everyone who did not have a secondary weapon and are 4th job receives a free Epic on reveal one for free!

The new NPC, Nebel, who is found in most towns, sells level 30, 60, and 100 secondary weapons.

There’s a specific type of secondary weapon for each class.

I’m gonna list each job and their type of weapon, as well as link to a picture (thanks to 별이e of Insoya for the pictures!)~ I’m gonna name the final form (level 100 version) of each one by the way. For you to know, 공격력 is attack and 마력 is magic attack.

There was also a buff to Paladins this patch!

What you mean taking the profits from people back in the Maple Trading System? Or from over-priced merchants? Or wait months to not get a book at all because you can’t find it? Yea, I’m not seeing a downside to this. If you can get books from several quests, get books from events, get mystery mastery books from monsters, and still fight bosses to get skill books, I don’t see the problem. That’ll decrease the price of all books and make everything possible to get. Possibly even Maple Warrior 20 and 30. I had to spend 1 billion a piece for those on each of my high level characters.

Wheres the fun in that? This game used to be a challenge, and that made it fun to play…now you can get everything handed to you as long as you fill Nexon’s pockets. I’m so happy i moved to a private server.

That 510% damage blast looks fishy if you ask me. Either it’s a typo, or they cut the hit count (i hope not!), or it’s just o_O.

Blast did deserve a damage boost, it MUST be stronger then mob version of raging blow since it’s a 1v1 move from the start, and rb can get 60%+ stronger 1v1 with enrage. But 510%? I think it’s 310%.

Number 5 and 3 easy get mistaken for eachother with small fonts. But we’ll live and see. At least not one will complain new acb made blast obsolete;p (like critical rate, pdr ignore, extra hit and minimum crit damage boost didn’t exist on blast..).

And if i understood correctly – paladin shields now have weapon potential? So we don’t need that rosario thing, just our good old shields + some recubing?

    Fantastic post!
Can’t believe they’ve started selling mastery books for cash -_- although if I recall correctly they sold Dual Blade mastery books for cash as well and other versions weren’t forced to pay cash for them. In some versions and servers, having the option to buy them with cash might actually be a good thing as it is impossible to obtain them otherwise.

    YAY, MORE INFO!

So, they didn’t fixed Hero’s Final Attack and I/L Archmage Teleport Mastery hyper skills?? Really, job specific Hyper out of Common Skill?! COME ON!!

And I’m not exactly.. Happy, about that new secondaries replaced shields.. Pally without shield!? With buff to skills as compenzation?! OR EXTINCTION OF GHETTO DUAL BLADES (STR Bandits that use khanjars in place of writsguards or shields. I still didn’t get how the removal of DEX requirement works for STR Bandits anyway.. Sindits were/are always “LUK”, and using seclusion wristguard at ideal state), OR EXTICTION OF SHILDS IN COMMON!?
I wonder.. WHAT they were they at Nexon.. Ah, forget it, MApleStory was always the OCD nightmare, but still nonetheless fun.

… they can still use shield but their shield are being treated as secondary weapon, meaning. your shield gets even better -_-

The secondary weapon is optional, classes that can use shield can choose either secondary weapon and shield…

        September 20, 2012 at 5:09 pm

        thank you

      • September 21, 2012 at 11:07 am

I know they get better, but I HIGHLY doubt that the shields gets better than secondary weapon. Unless my doubt is proven wrong, shields will still go extinct, pallies will switch to 2h sword, and restrictions of 2h weapons of not using the shields will be useless.

Really, a separate slot will be MUCH better. Maybe it will result in OP Adveturers/Explorers (which isn’t exactly wrong, and could be fixed by slight, say DEF buffing the secondaries released before this….), but will be overall better solution (and will get balm on the ticked nerves of those who suffer/enjoy OCD )

    • September 20, 2012 at 12:37 pm

I doubt you can wear both of them at the same time… they DO take up your shield slot, remember?

    • HDex
      September 20, 2012 at 5:12 pm

What do you guys not get? The shield slot becomes the new secondary weapon slot and is usable by everyone now. That means if you’re already using it then, there you go. Nothing changes for you. Go ahead and cube your current shield because it’ll have weapon potential now. Giving everyone the ability to a secondary weapon and removing secondary stats is creating an even plateau for characters. This game may truly be balanced after this.

Interesting, I have a question though Max. For the Empress shoulders, do you know if they are tradeable or moveable within the account in any way? They could be regularly tradeable or need PSoK/Sharing Tag and that, or are they just plain untradeable and stuck on the character forever? 😡

I really don’t see why people keep say Orca would be a theif when she was a magician, just because Resistance doesn’t have thief class doesn’t automatically mean she’s going turn thief. Beside Claudine is already the thief instructor and it’s probably going be like how the Legendary Heroes don’t have a Pirate and Adventures have two thieves.

      • Anonymous
        September 25, 2012 at 10:31 pm

she could be a mage/theif that throws magic stars that she can control and turn into diff shapes and sizes etc…and does other magical and theify stuff i mean look at angelic burster shes a mahou shoujo , but a pirate when almost none of her skills relate to pirates at all and they look more like magic

I know it’s already revealed that thief is xenon which is pirate/thief hybird but still :
there isnt a hero pirate because pirates didnt exist back then,as you all know pirates are the newest “job type” that was ever released.and they were made way after black mage was sealed so of course it makes sense that there werent any pirates 100 years ago.because even before 5~6 years ago there werent pirates at all.
And I doubt orchid will become playable class. But if you’ll notice,Xenon is based off Orchid/Su.When you create them you can pick them to look like either. And that’s because theyre based on them probably.

The Paladin changes are nice. A shame the Sancrosanctity cooldown is still a bit too long, but it’s definitely much better than before. Shields getting weapon potential is great too, although it’s a shame, since they won’t have that natural weapon attack stat to begin with.

The only problem now is that Blast is stronger than Heaven’s Hammer, with or without skill enhancements. There’s no reason to ever use a burst damage skill when the dps skill does more than it. It was already an arguable case as you could blast more often in the time it would take to perform a heaven’s hammer. I want to say it’s not even viable for training, but I suppose at LHC or Ruined Henesys, it is still better than Advanced Charged Blow, and since the enemies likely wouldn’t die in one use of it anyways, it’s not too much a shame it can’t kill enemies.

    • September 30, 2012 at 2:16 am

Ice aura is rather OP, as it gives night invulnerability….
But teleport mastery is rather weak, the range boost being only skill somewhat worth taking out of the three, not talking about it’s not a good idea to make hyper skill out of common skill :\
Maybe, just maybe, it may have been a good idea to have tele mastery hypers for Battlemage, as out of Resistance, Battlemage has worst mobility….

Actually, DoT sucks big time… most ppl isnt really aware of this but DoT is not afected by arcane aim, infinity, criticals, and who knows what else… while i can do 350k x 6 with paralyze, my poison mist DoT of 420% only deals 87k… and paralyze can be spamed at 0.6 hits per sec, while DoT is once per second, so it takes over 20secs to DoT to match a 1 sec paralyze dmg…
If fire aura dmg behaves like DoT, then it sucks, and meggido flame sucks too, it mainly does DoT, wich as i was explaining, its reeeeeeeeally weak…
Lightning Sphere probably deals better dmg than both together, so cheer up I/L.

Jesus christ, first time reading up on the changes maplestory went through since 2008… It’s practically not the same game anymore. 9,999,999 damage cap? o.0 How are people hitting that now! Insane. Makes me afraid of playing again.

^I’m not sure if I read it right…
It says: “A blue flame hones in on AN enemy and burns THEM…”

Does it attack one enemy or more than one?

Ah darnit this patch is “escaping” from GMS, Now they bring us the stupid OP Kanna and Hayato,I personally ain’t excited about that,To be honest I prefer Hyper skills instead of more classes,There are too many already…Yeah Jett was a fail,But nobdoy wants to survive another long and stupid patch that increases delay between KMS to GMS.They better fuse both patches. And now I guess Root Abyss set will be lv 160 in GMS because 150 is this Sengoku Era one.
